Election 2016: What do we do?

Yesterday at work, we had go through training to sell a new service. While completing our final class, our Trainer brought up the fact that Donald Trump was in South Carolina. She expressed her concerns and started a dialogue. She began saying that she didn’t think that he has the ability to relate to the rest of us. She said that like us, he has no idea what it’s like to work for $9 an hour. To live from paycheck to paycheck. She said that the whole point to her for a President, to be able to be able to relate to the American people.

This started a dialogue that brought up a variety of subjects including Politics and Race. Now, these are typically subjects that people tend to avoid, because they don’t want to offend anybody. And she stated that if anyone was uncomfortable, that we could stop the conversation. But, no one wanted to stop the conversation. We all talked about a variety of issues facing our country and what we think about the representatives from each party. One lady, said that she’s leaning towards Donald Trump. Because, he’s a businessman and she feels that he knows and has what it takes to get the US out of debt. And she thinks that Hilary is not a good candidate. Because, there are countries that don’t acknowledge women and she feels that countries would not accept her as our leader.

Then, there was a young woman that said she’s give him credit for being a good businessman, but Business and Politics are two totally different things. And she don’t think that he has what it takes to be a good leader. Then, she said that she thinks that the rules for voting should be more open than it is. She was talking about the fact that felons don’t get to vote. And she said that should be changed. The Trainer chimed in and said, ‘That it depends upon what they are in jail for.’ And then, the young lady agreed and said if it’s for a lesser crime, that they should be allowed to vote.

Then, there was one young lady that said she’d vote for Bernie Sanders, while other said that they’d vote for Hilary. And some said that they didn’t care or were unsure. Then, the subject of race took the floor. People started talking about how they were raised and how they were raised to see people, not race or color. Then, the Trainer began talking about her children and how her children plays with other kids. And how all they see, are children that are their age and their level, and they just think about playing and having fun. She said, but there will always be one parent that will come and get their child and pull them away. And I can relate to that.

When I was younger, I was in dance class. One of the greatest things that I’ve ever done, because it taught me a lot about diligence and learning new things. Anyway, I was home-schooled also. We were a part of this christian homeschool association and my best friend was a white girl. I would call and talk to her and she’s call me. When we’d see each other at functions, we were always hanging out with each other. One day, I invited her to my dance recital. All of a sudden, I heard her Mother talking to her in background, telling her that they couldn’t go. And she was asking why not. Her mother gave the impression that she couldn’t go, because we were Black!

Absolutely shocked, is an understatement. I could not believe what I was hearing. I could not believe that! A family that my Mom knew and Grandmother knew, and for them to say that was just horrible!
That was the first time that I had experienced racism. I didn’t know what it was, all I knew was that I didn’t like it. I knew that I hated it! This was an experience that I won’t forget. Listening to the conversations yesterday and discussing things with them, It did let me know that even though we’ve got a lot of work to do, to make this country better, we’ve come a long way. There was once a time when that conversation wouldn’t have happened, with different races, Males and Females. We have come a long way.

It was refreshing to talk about a variety of subjects and no one got a offended. But, it did touch people, there were even tears shed. It was a moving experience and I am glad that we were able to be a part of it. I have my opinions and I have concerns. But, I know that the best candidate, will really have to be a great person. Understanding and Patient. This campaign is not going to be easy and it’s not going to be easily figured out or understood. But, I do hope and pray that the best person for the job will win!

CAM: IS IT RACE OR STYLE OF PLAY?

SUPERBOWL 50 IS APPROACHING AND OF COURSE, THAT IS THE MAIN SUBJECT THAT IS BEING TALKED ON THE NEWS AND ONLINE. FROM THE STREETS TO THE BARBER SHOPS TO THE TVS. PEOPLE ARE PREPARING THEIR TAILGATING PARTIES AND EXCITED ABOUT IT.

HOWEVER, ONE OF THE MAIN THINGS THAT IS THE MOST DISCUSSED THING, AND THAT’S MR. NEWTON. CAM HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! HE HAS BEEN DOING THINGS THAT NO ONE THOUGHT THEY’D SEE. HOWEVER, THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT HAS CONCERNS ABOUT CAM, THE WAY HE CELEBRATES, THE WAY HE PLAYS, THE WAY HE DANCES.

MANY PEOPLE ARE TAKING ISSUE WITH HOW HE HANDLES THINGS ON THE FIELD. NOW, THE THING IS A POLL WAS TAKEN ON ESPN , REGARDING WHETHER  THESE ISSUES ARE BECAUSE OF HIS RACE OR BECAUSE OF HIS STYLE OF PLAY. OVER 60% SAY, THAT IT’S THE STYLE OF PLAY. AND A MAJORITY OF PEOPLE THAT VOTED IN THIS POLL, WERE BLACK.

THIS WAS A LITTLE SURPRISING TO ME, BECAUSE OFTEN TIMES BLACK PEOPLE ARE THE MAIN ONES THAT LOVE TO DANCE AND CELEBRATE WHENEVER THEY THINK  THEY’VE DONE SOMETHING MAJOR. SO,  I AM A LITTLE SURPRISED. BUT, I DON’T GET WHY PEOPLE ARE HAVING SUCH AN ISSUE WITH THIS. HE LOVES TO RUN AND HAVE FUN. BUT, BRADY LOVES TO RUN AND CUSS. RODGERS WILL DO HIP THRUSTS ON THE FIELD. HOW IS NEWTON’S MINDSET WRONG, COMPARED TO OTHERS.

I WONDERED SOMETHING EARLIER. WELL, TWO THINGS. FIRST, I KNOW THAT THERE ARE SOME WHITE PEOPLE WHO WOULD MUCH RATHER DEAL WITH “CALMER” MORE “SUBDUED” BLACK PEOPLE. NOT THE ONES, THAT GETS EXCITABLE. HOWEVER, SOMEONE LIKE NEW LIKE NEWTON, THAT’S SCARY TO SOME PEOPLE. SECONDLY, I WONDERED IF HE HAD BEEN THE FACE OF DEFLATEGATE, IF HE’D BEEN EXONERATED LIKE BRADY? I KNOW MY ANSWER, BUT I AM EAGER TO HEAR WHAT YOU ALL THINK. DO YOU THINK THAT NEWTON IS BEING TREATED UNFAIRLY? SO DO YOU THINK THAT HE’S SHOULD BE LET OFF OF THE HOOK OR IF HE SHOULD CHANGE HIS STYLE OF PLAY?

A New Start

Well, as we close this year and enter a new one, let us remember that, the things that we want to improve, starts with us! The change that we want to see, begins with the way that we treat ourselves and others.

We must work harder this year and we must stick with it. The best is yet to come and it’s ours for the taking! Let us Take it!

Happy New Year!!!!!

Traditions

Traditions.

This is the time of year, when Traditions really ring, like the jingle bells in the air. Families, Friends, Colleagues, Neighbors and Everyone alike, gather together for Food, Fun and Happiness. The Holidays, my favorite time of the year! Decorating, Shopping for gifts and preparing for Christmas, is Outstanding!

When it comes to traditions, one of favorites is when my family would get in the car and ride around to see the lights! I love that! Feels like having a light show, right in your own backyard. Years ago, My Grandmother and her brothers that lived here, would have a tradition.  One, would have Christmas eve Breakfast, the other would have Christmas day dinner and the other would have New Year’s day. It was fun, always figuring out what you were going to wear and what you going to eat. We would always have fun and it was a great way to be able to have  family time, without trying too hard.

One of my traditions, is creating a theme and basically, going over board in planning and decorating! I love shopping for decorations, creating a theme and making it look amazing! I love looking at Google and Pinterest, to get more inspiration. I have been creating a theme in my head and I am trying to get the house and trees to fit that idea. Sometimes, I overdo it with the planning, but I haven’t had time to that lately. Because I’ve been working and now, I’m getting back into school. And school in and of itself, seems to be a tradition for me, personally. So, I plan on making up for the decorating, this  weekend.

Thinking about Traditions, brought a beautiful feeling in my heart. I hope that thinking about Traditions will bring the same, to all of you!

Inspiration

When you think of inspiration, what comes to mind? For me, my Mom comes to mind. This woman, is my muse for everything that I do. The reason that I want to do more, is basically because I want to provide the type of gifts and life hat I feel and know she deserves. I work hard, to make sure that I am able to give her what I want her to have. And that is the best and all that I can give her. That’s what I want her to receive.

When I think about blogging and the inspiration for that, I think about the amazing things that there are, to blog about. Books, Food, Fashion, Life. The list goes on and on. There is really is no shortage of inspiration. Even though, there are many times when it feels like there are no more ideas and that’s only because, we get stuck from time to time. We will stare at that blank screen and repeatedly try to get something inspiring on it, but sometimes we come to a “Blog Block”! Which is always frustrating and challenging to deal with. But, one thing about inspiration, which it hits, it is one of the best feelings in the world. When you let the inspiration take over and end taking control, is one of the most freeing things that  can happen. Knowing that the words are coming to your head, through your hands and fingers onto the page or screen, it is just Amazing!

This post, is a perfect example. I have had no forethought about it, I just wanted to talk about Inspiration. It is just incredibly exciting for me, because I am now getting back into school! Finally! I am really happy. And studying to me, is inspiration. It inspires me to believe in myself and to strive for more. Studying to me, is Power! I love being able to study and have the chance, to bring my best to a project that I am working on and this time, it’s on my dime! I love it!

Inspiration comes in a variety of forms and I love looking for inspiration in different things. Be it Art, Music, Food, Blogging, Reading, Writing. The possibilities are endless. I am just excited about everything and the upcoming Season! It is just so inspiring to see the beautiful décor, the lights, the cheer, the excitement that is in the air! This is by far, my Favorite Holiday! Speaking of which, I’ve got to go and finish decorating my tree! And my house! Aah, a Girl’s work is never done.

If you get some time, I want you to think about what inspires you.You can comment on your inspiration or you can keep it private. I just want you to think about what inspires you to do what you do, To dreams the dreams that you’ve got, to create the way and what you create. You might find new inspiration, in things that you don’t even know you’re inspired by.

Long time

Hello Everyone!

I can’t apologize enough for  not being around lately. I have been working a lot and trying to balance thing out. And I have missed you so much. So, without further ado, here we go.

There’s a lot that has changed, but I want to keep it at blogging. I have been reading some things on something that I feel, I have been doing. And that is Blog Neglect. The V Mirror is one of the most important things in the world to me. I created it and it is my baby. And I hate that I have allowed the craziness and working interrupt that. It’s just that when I get home, I get home late. But, what I’m going to do, is try and blog more in the morning.

When you’re working, one of the things that you love, is your time off. You appreciate having some time, to read or something. However, I have been tired for some reason and trying to make the adjustment. I have been trying to figure out how to balance everything that I love. And Blogging is right there, a long with being with my Mom.

However, I will be getting back into school soon. Very excited about that! It’s been such a long time for me and I can’t wait to get started. I am thrilled with the idea of studying and being excited about tests and graduating. Okay, maybe I’m not incredibly excited about tests, but school and tests, goes hand in hand. I need to feel more like myself again, I haven’t felt like me in a long time and I need to recapture myself. So, I feel that maybe getting back to something familiar and good in my life, will get me back to this place.

Blogging is one of those things and I am going to get back to it. I Love y’all and I hope that you’re still on this blogging journey with me. Because of the V Mirror, I’ve been able to take a closer look at myself. And it is my special hope, that every single reader, will be willing to join in.

Tips on how to score that Job

As I blogged a few days ago, about finally getting a job.

There have been a lot of times when I got more doors closed in front of my face, than I thought that there were in the world. It almost felt like nothing was going to happen, in a positive direction for me.

With everything that I’ve learned and with all of the experiences that I’ve had, it would not be fair of me to hold all of that information to myself. That’s one of the things that knowledge is for. It’s not always meant to be kept to oneself, but at the right times to be shared. So, I have made a mental list of some of the things that I’ve learned.

Now, I am going to try my best to keep it short and sweet.

~Getting a job should be considered a job.                                                                                                                              I read this in a book called, “Seven steps to getting a job fast” written by Michael J. Farr. In this book, he tells the readers to consider the job hunt itself, a job. And I found that to be a real true statement. Before I read that, I would jokingly say that to my Mom and friends. However, that joke that I would repeatedly say, became an honest way to look at the job search experience. Each time you get up and get ready, print your resumes and head out to look for work, you are suiting up for battle. Unfortunately, if you are not out there, you won’t fully get that.  Job hunting is a challenge to say the least, and you will face rejection. Disheartening rejection. You will second guess yourself and you will ask yourself questions. Things like, “Is there a job out there for me?” and “When will someone call me?” There will be times when you will see people out there getting multiple jobs and then you might yourself, “What’s wrong with me?” Now, I won’t lie to you. That will get frustrating. But, the point that you’ve got to remember and believe in, is that the same miracles that happened for them, will happen for you. It just might take a while. Every time you get dressed and walk out of your place, go out with the mindset that you’re going to work. And if you don’t get a job that day, regard it as a ‘tough day at the office’ and suit up again for the next time.

~Read, Read, Read.

One of the main things that I did, was visit the Library often. Reading books on resumes, job hunting and preparing yourself for work was crucial to the job search for me. I just felt that I had to get different perspectives. Even though I know that your own experiences are not going to be exactly like the ones that you will read about. But, it never hurts to read  about the opinions and experiences of others. It just might help you to take a closer look at the methods that you’re utilizing. I mean, if you’re like me, you had ideas of what you wanted to do. But, you were unsure about how to go about getting it. I was picky in the beginning. There were a list of things that I wanted to do and a list of things that I didn’t want to do. And I basically refused to budge on that list. But, then reality set in. And I had to budge. I had to get myself together and I had to realize that pride had to take a backseat and that I just needed a job. And I had to study harder and I had to learn more. Reading helped me to figure out that I had to completely re-focus myself. At the time, it was about getting the job and getting it right.

~Dress the part.

Based upon the job that you’re looking for, it might be a good idea to look at what they are wearing to figure out the attire that you should be wearing, when going to apply. For instance, when going to apply at a fast food restaurant, it might be a good idea to wear something simple. Like a pair of neutral pants and a blouse, in a color that’s not to bright. Maybe a black pant and a white blouse. Now, I know that doesn’t sound very exciting. But, this is one of those cases when being too fashionable, might be a little much. Keeping it basic and not overdoing it, will serve you in the long run.  If you are looking for work in a fashion setting, then showing them a sophisticated version of your style, could help you seal the deal. So, regardless of where you’re applying for work, you need to get a good idea of their style. Here’s one way that I took to doing it. After figuring out where I wanted to go and apply for work, I would look at what people who were employed there would be wearing. Then, I figured a simplified, but yet agreeable version of that attire would be appropriate. So, sometimes it’s best to do your own research.

~Organization

One thing that I found key, is organization. A few years ago, My cousin and I would go job hunting together. I’d watch the way that she organized her work and how she researched the places where she was applying. I’d never thought of that before. I mean, I love to make a list and I love making sure that things are organized and running efficiently. But, it never dawned in on me to carry a binder with all of my information with me. So, from that point on, I never went job hunting without it. So, I am passing along this advice to you. Look into researching the companies that you want to work for. If you are a frequent visitor at this location, check things out. Look at the people that work there and the services that they provide. Read about it, Google or Bing it and find out as much as you can about it. Employers will be impressed if you take the time to get to know more about their history

~Be Strong

The challenges of looking for work is going to take strength and determination. You’ve got to keep at it. Trust me, you just keep praying and knocking on doors. And one day, the right door will open. It will help restore your faith in patience and yourself. It may seem impossible at first, But trust me. The search for work won’t last always. There will be a job that will come -a-calling.

There are a lot of things that I’ve learned and I will definitely share those things with you. I hope that what I’ve shared so far, will help you on your job search. Good luck to all of you and I wish you all the best!!!

❤  🙂

JobS

After a long time of working on getting a job and being diligent in that search, I have FINALLY landed a job!!!

I could not be More Excited about everything! I am so thrilled to be a part of the workforce!  I am excited about everything that I will be doing for work. But, I don’t everything that I will be doing for work. So, I will be finding that out, soon.

However, I have great confidence in myself and this job. I am certain that Hard work will be a necessity. I know that and I am truly prepared to learn and to do my best. There’s going to be training, in a class format. And the funny thing about, is this. Since I’ve been home-schooled, I haven’t been in a classroom for sometime. The first time I was in a classroom was when I was six years old. Then, later the next time was 10 years later, when I had to take the SAT and ACT tests. Now, I will be in class for training. Ten years between each! Crazy, huh? It kind of amazes me that for two decades, I find myself in a classroom every 10 years!

I have big plans for work and I am definitely work towards getting things done. I always said that all I needed was a door, to open up for me. And that one has, I am not going to Jack it Up!!! I am going to be the best employee that I can be. I am hopeful that I will be good and that I will learn quickly and perform on the job well.

I believe that having a great job will help me to be a better blogger. I will be getting more inspiration and getting more things done. I am going to have a lot more to share with you. And I hope that you all are willing to join me on this ride and enjoy it with me.

Sexy and Loyal

I was just reading an article on Twitter, about the Photography of Michael Stokes.

A brilliant photographer that had a beautiful idea to celebrate our Amazing and Selfless War Veterans, whom are also Amputees. These remarkable men, who gave limbs for the sake of our country. One of the men wanted to pursue modeling and was wondering how to get started. Upon meeting Michael, he was explaining to him how he wanted to be portrayed.

Michael was hesitant about photographing amputees this way, but then he got a great idea. He decided to come up with a book called “Always Loyal”, a coffee table book. It’s showcasing the Veterans, in a sexy and strong way. These men are not being photographed because they are amputees. They are being photographed because they are outstanding men, whom are HOT!

After looking at these photos, I have to say that they can give Professional Models a Serious run for their money. It was great to see! I loved them! I thought to myself, what a Great way to celebrate our Heroes and to celebrate what they’ve done for us, without focusing on it, a sorrowful way. These men show us, that we shouldn’t feel bad for them, but that we should love them, be attracted to them, and wish that we could meet and date them.

I am so in love with this concept And I think that it is brilliant of Michael to share this with the world. I want all of you to see the pictures. When you get a chance, log onto this link,

Share it and Enjoy!!!

Trust me, I do believe that you will enjoy these Pictures!

And to these veterans, thank you all so much for your selfless sacrifice! Thank you for sharing your passion for your country with us. And thank you for sharing your Hotness with us! God Bless, God bless our Troops and their families and God Bless the USA!!!!

A Lot has Happened…Lately

Well, since the previous post, there’s been a lot that has gone on. On a Happy note, I turned 27 on Sunday! I am extremely happy about that.

On unfortunate news, The Horrible Misery that is going on, in Charleston.

Charleston, has been a city steeped in history and amazing beauty. The buildings, the food and the tradition. Although a couple of weeks ago, Charleston was hit with a Hellish attack on Nine innocent people, in a church. Nine people, who went to learn more about the Lord and to worship him. And it was ruined. It was horrible and there are no words for this.

There are no words that I have to describe this. No one deserves this, no one deserves this at all.
When I heard this, I was speechless. And I still am. This state, has been hit hard. But, the great thing that has come from this, is Unity.

The Unity that has been shown, between the churches. The different faiths, coming together to support this Church, the families and the State. The way that businesses have been creating funds to send to the families to help pay for services, to the scholarships that Universities have created in honor of the victims.

Seeing the way that people have come together, means a lot to everyone. The way that all of us, have banded together to pray and uplift each other, is nothing short of inspirational.

I am just moved by it all. And unfortunately, craziness has ensued in Texas as well.

This past Sunday, six people decided to get stupid and interrupt Joel Osteen during his sermon. Heckling and screaming scriptures at him. Calling him a liar and being complete jerks. They were arrested and this experience has shown me a lot about people, in today’s world. The word said, that there would be a time when Hell would come to the front of the church. Well, here we are. And things are real.

And the fact of the matter is, that people who were always hesitant to go to church, are not getting that reassurance to go, now. Because of these actions. And even though, that is the main point of people doing these things. It’s so sad.

But, I’m going to tell you that we are all, praying harder and harder. This world needs to get better. It just has to. We’ve got to work harder at being better, wiser and smarter. We’ve got to be kinder and generous. I think that we just have to stay on the straight and narrow. We need each other and we need to believe in the Lord and our Faith. Regardless of your faith, we all must pray and believe.

God Bless Charleston, God bless the Families of the Victims, God Bless South Carolina!
