I’m Just a Fan. But,…

Okay, I am a big sports fan. I love Basketball and Football. I enjoy watching Tennis as well. And over the past year, sports has been making some serious headlines. From Donald Sterling to Ray Rice. Well, now there’s a new headline. And his name is Tom Brady.

Now, I am sure that there a lot of Patriots fans and some that are probably going to read this. So, this is not a dig on the team. But, I am of course confused by the whole thing. Obviously, we’re all aware of #DeflateGate. But, here’s the thing. I was completely unaware of how many balls there were involved in this thing. Mom and I were watching one of my favorite shows in the world, ESPN’s First Take. And there, they were saying that there were 11 out of 12 ball that were deflated! 11 out of 12?!!! Dang, they might as well just said the entire dozen! Talk about insanity!!!

Now, we all know that the person that has the ball the most, is the Quarterback. So, if anyone would have an idea of how the balls feel, it would be him. He supposed to know a lot about how Temperatures effect the air in the ball and the movement and travel of the air, after it’s been thrown. So, by now he knows what he likes the ball to feel like. In case you don’t know, the punishment for Brady, is he’s suspended for the first four games of the season, without pay. Now, the team has been docked the first and fourth draft picks and fined 1 Million Dollars! The largest fine ever given to team, in NFL history!

At first, Robert Kraft was adamant about fighting this, by appealing it. He was strongly supporting Tom Brady, even saying after the Superbowl, Every single person was going to owe them an apology! He was boldly saying that Brady didn’t do it. And he believed Tom Brady when he said that he was Innocent. And so, they were all going to appeal this. Then, this past week, Robert Kraft decided to drop the appeal and just accept what was given to them!

Now, this came as a shock to everyone that had been paying close attention to this situation. Many people think that he sent Brady up the river, because he didn’t mention Brady in his statement to the press. Now, an incredible attorney named Lester Munson said something that I really hope that people will take heed to. He said, that if Tom Brady appeals, then all of the emails, texts and information that Brady and his team were hiding, they those things would have to come out in Court.” We all know that he’s right. There’s just no way around it.

But, Tom Brady is going to appeal it anyway. Personally, I’m not a fan of his. But, I do think that he should go home and just deal with it. I mean, the reason for that is, I believe that he cheated. And I do believe that things could be much worse for him. They suspended him for 4 games, not the whole season. So, I think he should follow in the step of Robert Kraft. I mean, I must say though, that I find Kraft’s actions suspicious. I mean, how do you go from actively supporting him and the team and refusing to take this lying down, to basically surrendering and dealing with all of it? I think that something came up and he wants to distant himself as much as possible, before things start spilling out.

Now, to skip over to basketball. There’s a lot going on there. The Playoffs are still happening an I was really pulling for the Clippers, because of the hell that they went through last year. I just thought that they deserved a fair shake. So, even though things didn’t work out, I think that if they get together, they could make another a deep run into the Playoffs next year!

But, I want to talk about Ray Rice. The time has now come, where he is to be considered to be drafted to a team. Now, personally I couldn’t care less if he’s drafted. I just don’t get his wife.

This woman was knocked out, literally in an elevator, when they had yet to get married. Just crazy! And she married him anyway! WHAT WAS SHE THINKING????!!!!

I don’t get it! I am wondering did a Publicist tell her that she should marry him and create a united front of forgiveness and bunch of other Crap? Did Lawyers tell her that? Or was this a decision that she made on her own. I mean, seriously? I don’t care about the Money! Isn’t her self-respect and dignity worth more than a dollar amount? I am far more disturbed by the two of them than what team he should go to.
Stephen on First Take, said the question the public has to asked themselves, is “Does Ray Rice deserve a second chance?” Personally, that really doesn’t bother me. Not half as much as these two people carrying on with their lives and her, stepping to his defense when people are criticizing him. I mean, are you kidding me?
But, no mater what team might pick him, they know that they are also taking on all of his baggage. All of the bad press that accompanies him and everything. That’s a lot to take in. And he if he’s talented or not, that a lot for a team and an organization to handle. There’s no amount of PSAs he’s going to be able to do, to erase that horrible video from the minds of people. Even if they don’t have it up on the internet, it’s still memorable to those that saw it.

So, what do you all think about this?

If you had the power to make a decision in either or both, what would you do about it?

Tracee Ford – The Interview

Hello Everyone!

As many of you, I have been a proud presenter of this woman’s work on my blog. She’s a great author, Entrepreneur and a BlogTalkRadio host. Now, she’s adding Publisher and Creator to her resume, as she has created her very own publishing company, entitled Ozwind Publishing, LLC. And I am working for her in the acquisitions department. It is my privilege and honor to interview the Remarkable Tracee Ford on my blog.

Here’s our chat.

Hello Trace! Thank you so much for joining me on my blog! It is my pleasure to have you here. There are a few questions that I have for you.

VELVET S. – First of all, you’ve been a Writer and an Author for some time now. What inspired you to express yourself in this way?

TRACEE FORD – I have always been a storyteller of sorts. I think it is something that is in my blood. It’s something I’ve tried to put down many, many times for many, many reasons, but I always pick it back up. No matter what seems to happen to take me away from writing, I always end up back there. That speaks Volumes to me.

VS – You’ve written different books, basically surrounding the Paranormal Genre. What interests you most about this Genre?

TF – I think the paranormal is actually “normal.” The veil between this world and the next is very thin at times. I wanted to bring my readers into that world. I have had some pretty intense experiences, so I think that was the root of the interest. The romance and suspense part just added to what was already there.

VS – Many would love to make their dreams, their careers. But, some don’t have the freedom or can overcome their fears to branch out and do something new. How did you do it? Were you scared to follow your dreams and passions to become an Author?

TF – To be honest, I was scared, but my desire trumped my fear. I was frightened of rejection, which I received. I was afraid my stories would stink and no on would want them and that happened. I found a publisher, who I am no longer with that took the books and created their vision for them. The fact is that it is scary to step out in faith on any level, but that is what you have to do if you to publish. You have to have faith in your dreams and in what you see as the end result. It’s up to you to find the bravery to get there.

VS – Many women would love to do that. But, due to the unemployment margins, they simply can’t afford it. Due to the lack of Equal and the Paycheck Fairness Act. Do you think that this is why many women are turning to creating their own online businesses?

TF – I think that there are a multitude of reasons why women are turning to online businesses. I think the subjects you mentioned are certainly factors. I also think true independence is another reason. I worked for other people (businesses) since I was eighteen. Being a small business owner now is exactly what I needed to do. Indie was the key to become happy and confident in myself.

This is my opinion, so just take it for what it’s worth. I think the majority of the workforce inhibits freedom. And creativity and expression and is filled with politics and conflict. It’s a nasty little world out there. Some employers are better than others. Unfortunately, until recently, I saw the worst of the worst. I had some good ones along the way, but for the most part, it was bad. In fact, one of my employers fired me for being an Author. Needless to say, I sued them. People don’t realize that tyranny isn’t allowed as much as the power-hungry employers believe that they are in complete control. They aren’t. If you are still in the world of work you had better familiarize yourself with your State of Labor Laws. Here’s why. If you are trying to break into the publishing world and let’s say you do. There is a high probability that your employer WILL NOT SUPPRT THIS because it gives you more control. So, if a situation arises where you are being let go, you owe it to yourself to fight.

But, I think women and men alike run into problems in the world of work everyday. I love the school that I substitute for, but really, I love being my own boss more. If it weren’t for my husband, I would not have been able to do that. But, Thankfully I am and I can. The aforementioned is exactly why I turned to online businesses.

VS – As an Author, you know what it’s like to face rejection. With your new publishing company, Ozwind Publishing, LLC., you have a slogan that I love. “No Rejection. Just Direction.” When you decided to create Ozwind, what direction did you see for it? And how necessary did you think this was for Authors?

TF – Starting out, Ozwind was simply going to represent my work and only my work. Then I wanted to expand it to my best friend’s books. As he and I talked about my experiences in publishing, I felt like Ozwind needed to be more. When I published under a traditional publisher I felt completely out of control and the end result of that is still haunting me. What I mean by that is this: I wanted my freedom. I wanted accountability. I wanted professionalism. I got none of these things. And when I called them out, everything went south. In fact, I am still having problems with them. But, that’s beside the point. What it did teach me is that authors need to feel in total control of their work, but many don’t have the resources they need to get published. I wanted to offer an option to them under a newly formed model: hybrid publishing. I think that this new vision is exactly what authors need. We do change fees for services, but we also have an acquisitions team who views the submissions and decided whether it is best to offer an Ozwind contract for fee or a self-publishing option. That is why we DO NOT DO REJECTIONS. We are not going to smash dreams. Rejection is such a negative term and because I believe in strength-based practices, I wanted Ozwind to be just that. I do think that what Ozwind offers is entirely necessary for new authors as well as published ones. Sometimes you just need help getting your work out there and you can’t pay outrageous prices to do it. That’s where we come in.

VS – When I first heard and Ozwind, I was incredibly excited! The purpose is Brilliant! I completely understand what your ideas and intentions are and I got them right away. Before I knew that’s what they were. Your message for your company spoke to me instantly. But, for those that are not familiar with Ozwind and those that know that a company like this is necessary, How you explain Ozwind to them?

TF – As I said, Ozwind is strength-based. We offer options. Yes, there is a price, but in order to be a successful business you have to change. However, we didn’t want folks to break the bank. That’s why our prices are under market. The other thing we offer is COMPLETE CONTROL. The author keeps their right…all of them. We simply act as a medium to get their work out there on the market. We provide support during the process and marketing as well as continued support after publishing. We work with the author to be true to their visions and what they want you to see happen. We are approachable and because we are small, we can offer personal attention. That is what every author wants.

VS – You have your own Podcast? Where can we find it and what inspired you to venture into Radio?

TF – I was actually a co-host for “The Paranormal Hour” with Willow Cross. World of Ink Network decided to offer my own show to me in April. My podcast can be found on BlogTalk Radio. And in the beginning, I sort of fell into it with Willow. I was doing a Google search and BTR. Then I searched inside of that to see what paranormal shows were on. I saw Willow’s and reached out to her to see if she would be interested in interviewing me about my book. She was and did. It sort of started there. The best place to stay-up-to-date regarding the broadcasts is through Facebook.

VS – In Five words, please name what Writing/Creativity means to you.

TF – Freedom. Dreams. Inspiration. Independence. Innovation.

One of my New Favorite Websites

Hello Everyone! I hope and pray that all of you are having a terrific day! And if your started a little rough, remember there’s never been a storm that lasted forever. Sunshine will make another Grand Entry!!! It always does!

Okay, as you all probably know by now, I’m a Big Girl and I’m pretty proud of that. Of course, I’m going to work on getting to a lighter weight, but that’s because I want to look better for myself, not based upon someone else’s criteria or expectations. But, there is one thing that I think we can change. I do believe there could be more of a flattering spotlight on us. I mean, the fact of the matter is, sizes 10 and up represent a majority of Women in America. In a majority of stores, there are sizes that hesitantly take the chance, to stock larger sizes. But, the crazy thing is some of those really don’t fit! For me, it’s like I’m trying to stuff myself into a Pin’s head! It’s impossible! And finding stylish looks for us, is crucial as well. We all see the looks and the beautiful styles that are presented for sizes that are smaller. But, sometimes we’ll look around wondering where’s our Style? How are we represented?

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining and I know that there are a lot more fashions for us to try nowadays. But, it’s still occasionally frustrating. Well, the good thing is that I know that I’m not alone. I was looking online and working on blog posts. When this beautiful page, caught my eye.

It’s called The Daily Venus Diva. And if you haven’t heard of it, let me give you a rundown. The Daily Venus Diva is a website solely dedicated to celebrating us as Women. Celebrating the Full-Figured Woman and all that she has to offer. It features Plus Size Models, Fashion, Blog posts and it gives its readers, the Opportunity to be on the cover of their Magazine. It’s terrific and I love it.

As I’m sure that many of you heard about the Lane Bryant Campaign called “#I’m No Angel”. Basically, taking a stab at the “Angel” Campaigns so familiar to us, from Victoria’s Secret. Well, this is where I first found out about it. The confidence, the pride, the literal happiness that that displayed was outstanding. Honestly, they’ve got far more guts than I have. Because I guarantee you, I couldn’t do it. I would be absolutely scared to put on lingerie and take pictures. Especially those that are going live, on the Internet. But, the way that they unapologetically showcased their beauty, was inspiring to me. And I am extremely proud of DVD, for celebrating us and the moves that we’re making in the world.

Now, I want to go on record as saying, this is not a post bashing women that are of smaller sizes. We are All Beautiful and each and every one of us, deserves to be appreciated and shown in a great light. We should all be held to high regard. But, we must first hold ourselves to high regard.

I am very proud of us, Women. Because, being a Woman is not an easy thing to be. But, hey somebody’s gotta do it. And honestly, Big or Small, I wouldn’t want to be anything else.
