Even in tough times, God is still blessing!

Today, was quite an interesting day. And I must say, it turned out to be a blessed day.

I was having car trouble for well over a week. My car was making some horrible sounds and the rear tire on the Driver’s side was just acting up and making the worst and most nerve-racking sounds in the world. I was really worried, so I didn’t drive it for a week!

I stopped driving period. So, I asked my friend, who is incredibly talented at fixing cars. Over the course of the week, I wasn’t sure if I have the finances, but assured me that we would be fine. Finally, I was able to set up a date for my friend to fix my car and I told him to call me when he was ready to fix it.

Well, let’s just say, It didn’t happen! I thought for sure that this would be a quick fix, but not everything is as it seems. I was told to call the auto shop and see how much the parts would cost. I was told the parts that he said I would need would cost $140.00 altogether.

So, of course I was kind of “bummed” out, as many teenagers say. And the car stopped making the sound as much, but, I still needed it done. I took my car to the mechanic today and I was a little to get it fixed then, because it was about time for lunch. So, I went back and I made sure that I prayed before I left the house. I went there and the mechanic looked at my car. He told me, ‘We can’t find anything in the tire of that you us was the problem. We put some power steering fluid in the car and that’s all it needed.

And the best part? It didn’t cost a thing! Praise God it didn’t cost me a thing! It runs perfectly and not an odd sound at all. My Mom drove up as I was getting ready to leave. I told her the whole story and she said, “That’s just like the Lord!” And indeed, it is. The Lord just made a way out of no way!

I praise God that he came through as usual. I was worried about it and I thought for sure that I would have to spend a lot of money to fix it. But, thankfully, the Lord smiled and shined down and I didn’t have to pay a dime.

No matter what, even when you think that you depend on your friends, it’s important to realize that the best friend in the world is Jesus! No one like him in the world!

I just had to share this story with you. To let anyone that thinks that you’ve got no one on your side, just hold on. God’s listening. And he comes through, right on time! Every time! Praise God that he always remain the same. The consistent person ever and  always gives his children  surprising blessings! Praise God for Jesus!!!!

Writers: Our stories Told! (And untold!)

<iframe src=”https://www.flickr.com/photos/ 100570197@

“It Ok. Writers should be Strange!” – from Cafepress.com onto Pinterest.

As a writer, we have visions. Visions of what our words will look like on paper and if they will touch someone. We want our words to inspire and motivate. We want our words to help that person that feels like they are at the end of their ropes, get back up and dust themselves off and keep it movin’!

We want our words to change minds and change the world.

As writers, we envision what we want the world to look like. We envision what the world would look like, if there were wars and violence. We envision what our worlds would like, if everyone loved each other, just as much as they text and tweet. We envision love. Real Love. Some write about a love they had once. Others, write about a love, lost. While others, write about a love they themselves, wish they could experience. The type of romance that causes people to reminisce about their own romances.

Some, write about passion. The type of passion that they’ve had or wish they did. The type of person that is going to bring abandon and heat to their lives. Then, there are those that uses their experiences to write books that will people to be smarter and not make the same mistakes, that they made.

Writers sometimes, are on the receiving end of a bad rap. We are often times called ‘Weird’, ‘Strange’ and ‘Misunderstood’.  Well, that’s true. We are all of those things. But, think about it. Why wouldn’t we be? We have a billion things going on in our heads, and often times, just as many voices talking to us at the same time.

On Pinterest, I create a board dedicated to Writers. One of the pins that pinned reads, “Writers Block: When your imaginary friends stop talking to you”.   I think that is a real fact. When you are sitting quietly in a room and you hear nothing? Sometimes, that can be the scariest sound in the world. Utter and complete silence. I always find it a little unnerving, when my imaginary friends are asleep and I’m not. That’s not a good feeling. It makes me wonder have I upset them. Then, that’s when I begin to think and I ask myself one question. “Have I read or wrote anything today?” Often times, the answer to that answers me. If I haven’t, then yes they probably are mad. Because I have talked to them today. I haven’t had a conversation with the people that I spend the most time with.

“Many people hear voices when no on is there. Some of them are called Mad and are shut up in rooms where they stare at the walls all day. Others are called Writers and they do pretty much the same thing!” -pinned from Facebook onto Pinterest.

Writers are called, ‘Crazy’, among other things. But, let’s face it. What artist has there ever been, that hasn’t been a little, uh..’Different’? I mean think about it. Van Gogh cut off his ear! Ok, so maybe that’s an extreme mention to make in this point, but you know what I mean. In case you’re a little creeped out, let me say it like this. Every single creative mind, as a little or a lot of ‘Nutty’ about them. Every single one of them. There as never been one that was completely normal. It’s like something that I’ve heard Tyra Banks say. “Perfect is Boring”! And that’s true. If you’ve ever seen really, really beautiful things, there was always something a little different about them. Even if you love them, there’s something about it, that doesn’t always makes sense.

That’s one of the things that I love about writing and blogging. It is a great way to create beautiful written pieces. That more often than not, are not perfectly written. They are not written by professionals or journalists. But, what they are, is opinions by people living what they are writing about. When you blog, you sharing your world with people and you are letting them see your inner self. I always say, ‘A blog, shows you who you really are’. And it does. It shows you things that about yourself, that no one might have been able to point out.

That’s what writing does. Writing is an art. The paper is our canvas, the pens, pencils, our paintbrush. And our words, are the colors. We are merely a tool for the art to use, to create itself and share itself with the world. We can’t run away from it. It always catches up to us. Another Pinterest writing reads, “Writers don’t choose their craft; they need to write in order to face the world!”

We have voices and oh, what beautiful voices they are. We make our music, march to the best of our own drums. Let the Symphony play. Let the Symphony play!

Just write everyday of your life. Read Intensely. Then see what happens. Most of my friends who are put on that diet have very pleasant careers.”

-Ray Bradbury

Women: The Power

Have you heard about the new #banbossy movement? A Movement that has been created by Sheryl Sandberg. The COO of Facebook and the founder of LeanIn. org, as well as the author of the bestselling book, Lean In.

She has created a movement that has brought major women of power to the forefront of this initiative. #banbossy is about encouraging women to understand and embrace their power. So many women have been going for what they want since the beginning of time and they’ve been called one word. Not Ambitious. Not Driven. Not Brilliant. But Bossy! This is a word that pretty much every woman that has had the ambition to stand on her own two feet and be her own woman, has been called. It has been a subject that hasn’t been talked about, but it is very much a constant in society.

When we look around and we see young girls that are buying into the idea that they can’t lead. Many of them are believing that they can’t take on a big job or handle making big decisions. But, here’s another thing. Many young girls are afraid to raise their hands in class or study in subjects like Science and Math. There are many young girls that feel that there are such things as ‘Boy Subjects’ in school. And they feel that they can’t stand along side of the boys, so why bother?

This seems to be a catching trend of among schools and young people. And it’s really sad. We’re seeing young girls that think that they are in a group and they’ve got to stay in a box. And they are afraid to spread their wings and see what they can do. So, when we see a young girl that is not afraid to raise her hand and she’s not a afraid to speak her mind, she’s instantly condemned as being bossy. She is instantly condemned for being too aggressive and trying to be ‘Like a man’! But, if she is being quiet and walking one step behind everyone else, then she’s doing her job. She’s doing what she’s suppose to be doing. She’s in her lane and she’s being what a woman should be. Pretty and silent.

Sheryl Sandberg has been told many things and being called Bossy, is definitely one of them. Joining forces with people that have paved the way for other young women is definitely inspiring. From Former Political powerhouses to Major Actresses to Iconic Musicians. She has opened the floor for women from all forms of success to come together. To show that they know what’s like to be called Bossy, they know what it’s like to be told, ‘No’ and be standing on the outside of strongly slammed doors. Many of them have daughters, whom they would like to create a better world for. They would like for their daughters to be able to excel, thrive and win in the world and not have to face the adversity they, themselves have faced.

I know for a fact, if I’m blessed with Daughters someday, I most certainly want to create a better world for them. I don’t want my girls to have to deal with the crap that I’ve dealt with. Like, being turned down for jobs, because people are seemingly ‘too educated’. I don’t want them to have to face being turned down for work because they’re women. I want to create better chances for our world and for our girls. The girls of the world now, and the girls of the future.

Today’s world, is full of Women and girls being categorized and being labeled as people that are insignificant. People that are not capable of being in charge and not able to lead anything. Women are only suppose to be a wife and mother. But, they can’t be leaders. They can’t be presidents. But, something was brought to my attention.

On the show, “Blood, Sweat and Heels”, a question was raised at a luncheon. Do believe that women can be leaders? Most agreed. And many women said that they believe women can be leaders. But, there were a select few that disagreed. While they believe that women can lead, they wouldn’t vote for a Female President. Because they believe that women are a little too emotional and that Men are more stable when it comes to power and how to handle it. And of course, this most definitely sparked a conversation and some heavy dialogue came to the forefront here. And boy, did it get spirited at the Reunion show, on this subject, was it was revisited.

Don’t you think that there many people that are completely against Hillary Clinton on running for President? And she hasn’t even made an announcement yet! Whenever we are faced with the opportunity to lead, we are instantly shut down. And sadly, sometimes by other women! That’s really sad! And it’s about time that changes!

LeanIn.org is a great website and truly interesting. There is so much to look at and read about. There are so many women to learn from and so many women to relate to. There are so many women that are proving that we all facing the same things. Make sure you take the time to read the LeanIn stories and you will be inspired. There is so much to learn about and so many people to learn from. And it’s about time that women ban together to #banbossy.

It can be done, one girl at a time. We need each other, Ladies. We need each other!

Granny’s first birthday in Heaven

Yesterday, was Granny’s Birthday. If she’d lived, she would’ve been 83 years old.

You know, I thought for sure that I would have sad and depressed and I really thought that Mom and I would’ve been really sad. But, I must say that we got through the day pretty well. Except for the huge headache that I had yesterday and the one that Mom has today. But, rest, Tylenol, and Prayer will fix that.

But, yesterday was Granny’s day. And she brought in spring every year. Every year, the 20th of March brought in spring. I always told Granny that she brought in the sweetest season and that she was so sweet as well. She always smiled and that and told me that what I said touched her heart.

I know for a fact that yesterday, the family and friends that are up there with her, celebrated her and they were all having a great time. I’m sure that they were laughing and dancing and praising God together. I know they are all rejoicing and so happy that their troubles and sickness is over.

We love her and miss her so much.

Happy Birthday Grandma!!!

They are ALL just like the rest of us!

I remember being young and talked back, I knew what I needed. I was spending all of my nights and days in bed laid back, daydreaming!”

-Beyonce ‘Grown Woman’

You know as I was sitting here thinking, that song started going through my head. I was thinking about my day today. How I have been daydreaming. I’m always daydreaming. I day about everything. The job that I’m going to have, my blog and it’s posts,  just everything.

But, this song got me to thinking. They are just like us. Because they are us!

Yes, we see celebrities and they all have beautiful things. Houses, Cars, Designer clothes and friendships with designers. Jewelry, And of course, fields full of cash! But, when you look at it, place yourself in their shoes. All of them had dreams. They all had plans for their lives. Many of them came from homes, just like ours. Many of them had parents, that had jobs like ours, do. Nurses, Housekeepers, Teachers, Seamstresses, Firefighters and much more. Many of them were raised with several siblings, while others were ‘only’ children.

Some were in the wrong crowd when they were young and others, kept to themselves.  Some were smart and others weren’t as smart. Some came from rich backgrounds and others, lived from place to place, barely making it. Some were raised by both parents. But, many were raised in a single parent home. And most of them time, those parents that were single, were Mothers!

We’ve seen some incredible things this year and we’re still in the third month of the year.

We’ve seen some incredible wins at The Oscars. We saw one of the world’s greatest and best actresses, Meryl Streep make history with receiving her Eighteenth Nomination. The most, Oscar history! We saw a newcomer, Lupita win her first Oscar after being nominated for the first time, in her first film! While an Actor, that has been acting for well over twenty years and got a role that he excelled in, received his nomination and win, Matthew McConaughey!

We’ve seen people like Steve Harvey, who started out as a comedian. Everybody thought that’s where he’d end up. But, he got a whole new direction for himself, by writing his book. “Act like a Lady, Think like a Man” instantly became a New York Times Bestseller! He re-trained many minds, on what relationships are and how to act in them. Helping women get an understanding of the Male mind. How they think, feel and operate. And speaking as a young lady, I can tell you that we all could benefit from that. The “Code Cracking” book!

We’ve seen a reporter, that got her own show and turned it into an empire! Her name is Oprah! She started out, just like many reporters. And she used her brilliance, intellect and business savvy to create an empire where she has had her own show, she has her own magazines, and now, her “OWN” Network! But, went through so much to get there. She was abused when she was young and was pregnant at such a young age! She went through literal misery and she found a way to make a platform where she can help others, rejuvenate themselves and be better people.  To help them realize that what they’ve been through, doesn’t have to change their destiny. They can be whatever they want to and be whatever they want to be in life. That it’s up to them, not what they’ve been through.

Then, I look at the President and First Lady. Two people that came from different backgrounds, but share similar stories. He and his sister was raised by a single mother and grandparents. While her and her brother, was raised by both of their parents. But, each one of them, made their opportunities by working hard and making sacrifices. It was challenging and they went through a lot. But, when he made the decision to run  for the highest office in the world, she was nervous about it. She was concerned about their lives changing and how their family would be able to remain normal, throughout the process. Let alone, if they won and went to the White House. But, through everything, they buckled down and they made the seemingly impossible, happen. And made history!

Beyonce. One of my Favorite people in the world.  I love everything about her. Her music, her style and the way that she has carried herself. But, of course she has many challenges, some public and others  not. She was managed by her father since she was a young girl and a few years ago, she made the hard decision to end her business partnership with her father and manage herself. That was incredibly hard and I’m sure that there was fear in her. I mean, that’s a huge difference. Going from being managed by her father and having him fight for her. Having him, handle business that she might not have known much about, to seeing everything for herself. Having to fight for herself and make the decisions for herself. Learning and growing and becoming her own boss.

Hard thing, becoming your own boss. Trust me, I’m learning that everyday. As I have been looking for a job, I have been building my work as a writer and a blogger. And it is not easy. But, working on this, has shown me a lot about myself. It’s shown me, my work ethic and the way that I like to manage myself. Learning to manage myself, is definitely a challenge. But, it’s something that you learn everyday. It’s something that you work on and it’s something that you will grow into over time.

Thinking about all of these people and so many more, just let me know that they all are really like us. Because they are us!  They are all just like us!
